Allergic Rhinitis (hay fever)

What is allergic rhinitis?

Allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever, is an allergic reaction to certain allergens, such as pollen, grass, dust and animal dander. Allergies can be seasonal (worse in certain seasons) or perennial (present all year). Some common symptoms include sneezing, a stuffy nose, coughing, runny nose, itchy eyes or nose and headaches.

How can it be treated?

There are a number of hay fever treatment options when it comes to treating allergies. Antihistamines can be helpful, as can certain nasal sprays. Your doctor will prescribe the best medication for your specific needs, as well as make recommendations for any lifestyle changes that could provide relief.
