What is the cost of the appointment?

The basic consultation fee is from R850. This excludes any additional procedures that may be needed. 

 

How does it work with my medical aid?

Appointments are paid for on the day. We will give you a receipt after you have paid which you can use to submit your claim to your medical aid. Depending on the type of medical aid you have, you should be refunded the majority of the cost.

 

Can you call me to remind me about my appointment?

You will receive a SMS reminder 24 hours before your appointment with all of the appointment details.

 

How do I find your offices?

We are in suite 1604, on the 16th floor of the New Christiaan Barnard Hospital on the Foreshore, cnr Rua da Bartholemeuw and DF Malan Rd. Parking is available in the building and will be validated in our office.

 

What if I need surgery?

If a decision is made to proceed with surgery after your consultation with Dr Monteiro then a date and time is set that is convenient. Pre-authorisation from your medical aid is required before any procedure is undertaken, we will help you with this process.

 

How do I get admitted for surgery?

On the day of your surgery, you will need to report to hospital reception on the ground floor. You will need your medical aid details and authorisation number. From there you will be admitted onto one of the wards in preparation for your surgery.

 

When can I have my last meal?

It is very important that you do not eat or drink anything 6 hours before your surgery.

 

Do I go home the same day?

This will depend on the type os surgery that is required but most of our operations are be done as day cases, which means you will be discharged on the same day. Please confirm these details with Dr Monteiro.

 

How long will it take me to recover?

This will depend on the nature of your condition and the type of surgery that is required.

 

Do I pay for appointments after my operation?

No. Post-operative appointments are free of charge for 6 weeks after your operation.
