What is a voice assessment?
A voice assessment includes a thorough medical history as well as vocal cord evaluation with a flexible laryngoscope or video stroboscopy. The assessment itself assesses voice quality, vocal cord anatomy, vocal cord function as well as movement of the mucosal lining overlying the vocal cords. A voice assessment is useful if you have noticed a change to your voice lasting longer than 4 weeks. This may be a result from an injury, illness or acid reflux. If there are serious issues with the voice it is possible to perform a surgery known as phonosurgery. This procedure improves the voice and helps to resolve voice disorders.
